The bustling centre of the harbour is the promenade, ideal a it is for long, quiet walks by the sea, or to be there every da when the fishing fleet unloads their catch. This is the reason why there are so many good restaurants to sample the bet seafood dishes of the island's cuisine. This long-establishe~ fishing port is today a place that is visited by people from a] over the world, celebrities, models and sportsmen included and one of life's small pleasures is to sit at an outside table c any of the cafes to see and be seen. A visit to Dragonera is almost compulsory. It has been a Na lore Reserve since 1995, thanks to an intense mass campaign against building speculation. It is almost 800 metres frog Mallorca, and its name is fully justified by its appearance of i sleeping dragon. On Dragonera, one can walk from one end to the other of th^l island which is almost exclusively inhabited by lizards ant seagulls. Boats take passengers to Cala Lledo, Dragonera' natural harbour, from Sant Elm. Sant Elm, with its islet of Pantaleu, is a good starting point for i number of hikes. It used to be a small village that made a liv ing from fishing and salting fish, until in the middle of the las century it became a tourist resort. From here, one hiking routs takes you to one of the most delightful spots in the municipal ity of Andratx, the Sa Trapa estate, which in the past was home to a strict order of Trappist monks. It is an area of exceptions beauty where the views of the sleeping dragon are best. The whole Andratx coast is a paradise for diving fans, ant there are plenty of organised dining trips that will satisfy al expectations.
